Dr. Richard SchreckRICHARD SCHRECK Richard Schreck is a member of the applied linguistics faculty and Director of the English Language Institute (ELI), the teaching and research laboratory of the Master’s Program in Applied Linguistics and the Ph.D. Program in Second Language Acquisition / Instructional Technology (SLA/IT). He has been at USF since 2004. Dr. Schreck has held faculty and administrative positions at the University of Houston, UCLA, the University of Michigan, and Heidelberg College. He has served as Director of International Programs at the University of Maryland University College, the online university program of the University of Maryland System, and has been Vice President for Higher Education at VCampus Corporation, an online learning company traded on NASDAQ. He was CALL Editor of the TESOL Newsletter from 1983 to 1993. His interests include corpus linguistics, virtual collaboration, and the integration of learning and electronic systems in enterprises. He is currently developing with colleagues in linguistics, engineering, and business a multimodal corpus of virtual collaboration for scientific projects—the USF Corpus of Virtual Collaboration in Science (The USF Corpus). Dr. Schreck’s publications include a comparison of US and Russian approaches to corporate online learning.
